Was just reading several of the threads and remembered (Quite some time ago) A quilt teacher that advocated the we each had our own "Perfect 1/4 inch" and that as long as we were consistent, our quilts would be perfect.

Anyone remember who that was? (I'm sure I will remember later today while on an all day zoom meeting lol)

For most of the quilts I make, that is very true. Sometimes with points and such, adjustments are necessary - for me.

That is true if you are making the same blocks. But if you try to combine a block that has 4-5 seams with a block that has 10-12 seams those will most likely end up different size blocks. So that “perfect seams” theory is only partially true. Or at least in my experience.

The perfect 1/4” is important, but more important is the size of the finished piece. I like measuring my intermediate units to make sure every unit is the correct size as I go, so the block ends up the right size.
