    Default Batting question

I'm going to need to order batting soon and was wondering if you could use Hobbs Heirlooom Fusible Batting for child size quilts, it's currently on sale at a affordable price. Is it fusible only on one side or two? Has anyone had any experience using it?

Sorry, @LGJARN52 that I can't answer your question, but I am going to add another ...

Is fusible batting, a permanent fuse?
Or does the fuse disappear with washing, so that it becomes like regular batting?

Thanks Everyone ... and a Happy New Year!

Per Hobbs Batting's website, the fusible is water soluble Hobbs Heirloom Fusible Batting, so it washes away when you wash the finished quilt. Lots of other important information on that page.

Note that it's apparently fusible on both sides, so you'd want all 3 layers stacked before you start pressing to activate the adhesive.

Hobbs advises quilting no more than 4" apart.

ETA - and you must use a hot, dry iron. If you use steam, it won't stick.

Thanks @mkc ... Of course, why didn't I think of checking their website! Sometimes the obvious, just isn't obvious.

I have some fusible, but have no clue as to the brand ... so now you probably already know my next question ...

Is the non-permanency of the fuse, the same for all fusible battings?

Thanks again, @mkc and Everyone ... with another Happy New Year, too!

There's really no way to know. "Probably", but a good test would be to take a small piece, fuse fabric to both sides, then wash your little sample (especially in hot water).

Not sure how good of a sale this is, but BATTINGSUPERSALE has the 80/20 case, crib (12) 45"x60' currently priced at $124.95 with free shipping over $75. I make a lot of charity quilts for Project Linus and thought maybe this would work for me, but it's a bit too narrow and would have eto cut one package up into strips to Frankenstein them to another whole piece to make them big enough for my needs. This sale is a New Years Sale and probably ends tonight.
