Since I can't buy more fabric I decided to remove temptation. I dropped MSQC, Quilt in a Day, and Donna Jordan. I will still have access to MSQC and Donna Jordan's YOUTUBE tutorials. There is a link on the tool bar for MSQC. Click on WATCH. There I you will find a list of their tutorials organized by who who's doing the tutorial. Also organized by what precut is used for the tutorial.

Oh, Gin. I know the issue of free fab. We have a closet at Project Linus full of free fabric. I've pretty good the past couple months not bringing home fab but my inner quilter always says.,..Just look in one container. (Yeah, like that could happen.)

So far this January I've ccompleted 3 charity quilts for Project Linus, and hope to start another one sometime today. It's extremely hard not to buy all the pretty fabric that shows up in your e-mail each day.....ask me how I know! Have managed to just delete the majority of fabric/quilt stores who contact me daily, but will still keep a few of the great ones. MSQC is a favorite and so is Connecting Threads and always open those, but doesn't mean I have to buy. Jordan Fabrics has gone downhill since Donna's death in my opinion, other small companies I seldon bother with and just delete. Skipping and deleteing emails sure can save me money!

I have done the same in the past, Julenm!, and just unsubscribed from several sites this week. It take a HUGE amount of self-determination to not get caught in the the mental discussion of "do I need it or do I want it or do I like it"? After years of attempts, I think I am pretty good at recognizing the different messages my head speaks to me. Hard work for sure. And yes, I understand that others take joy and pleasure in shopping for lovely fabric and not just collecting. In the end know yourself and what fits your space, time and finances.

So I went to our day guild meeting. I actually put 3 packages of I spy 5 inch squares on the freebie table without removing a thing. I walked past the Lucky Draw table with barely a glance.....but then a local lady brought in 3 bags of fabric bundles that she wanted to donate. We all put our names in the draw pail and there were so many bundles/rulers/kits, that everyone got 2 choices. I came home with 1 bundle of fabric and a nice small cutting mat.
I also came home with 2 donation tops to longarm and I will be taking the backing out of my stash. So all in all, guess I didn't fall too far off the wagon.

A few years ago I decided to no longer get any quilting magazine subscription -- because the quilters here keep me aware of the various trends and current projects. Plus I have vision issues and then what to do with the magazines becomes an issue. I don't know how many pounds of old magazines we took to recycle when we moved, but I know most of my friends already had their pretty complete collections of Quilter's Newsletter and so fort. And I do know the box was too heavy for me to lift.
But a big thanks to those here who post and link and share. It keeps me going without me going to the fabric stores and running head long into temptation.

I like looking at all the sales and deals. I don't buy unless I'm looking for something specific. The only fabric I know I will buy is Tilda's new line coming out in February. It's pricey but I've been waiting for it. I'll probably buy wide backing when it's on a good sale.
