    Default Batting choice question

    Hello Everyone,
I am looking for some advice/input regarding batting - I have almost completed a Dear Jane quilt and I intend to hand quilt it. I have both wool and silk - as this quilt represents a lot of time and effort to construct the flimsy, I'd like it to have more than the usual cotton or 80/20 blend batting.
Which would you choose? Wool or Silk? Why?
Thanks for the input and advice anyone might give....

For those who are unfamiliar with the quilt, I have attached an image here (I think)

I have used both wool and silk battings. They are both a dream to hand quilt. My preference is silk batting. It has a real nice feel and drape. It holds up nicely and washes well.

Will it be a wall hanging or a bed quilt? Wool will hold up well for both, but I don't know if a silk batting will hang well? Would it be too drapey for a wall hanging? I'm genuinely curious so I hope others can chime in.

magicmoonmusings, I have only used the silk batting for my bed size quilts - usually queen size. It looks like ElaineCovid's Dear Jane quilt is a full to queen size bed quilt.

Don't have any ideas on batting, but I wanted to commend you for finishing your quilt. I started one a looooong time ago and will probably never be finished.

To clarify - the image is not my actual quilt, but an image I found on line... Mine is done with dark blue background and various batiks... It is not fully assembled yet but I hope to get that part done soon. Once the flimsy is ready, I will post a picture of mine.
Thank you to everyone that gave an opinion... I think I will use silk. It will be a treasured bed quilt (vs wall hanging). It will be heavy also, as there are so many pieces...

Well - I am a sucker for punishment apparently, as I started a Dear Jane in 2017 or so, and did about 25 squares... lost my momentum and couldn't get back into it. Realized after several sessions of looking at my blocks etc that the reason I didn't want to do any more was because I didn't love the background or the fabrics. Those got set aside (and donated to an orphan block thing)...
I started again about 18 months ago with a navy mottled background (Northcott Toscana) and various batiks. I really liked this version and worked on it steadily until about six months ago when life conspired to keep me away from it. Recently I got back at it with great gusto and now I am finishing my last couple of triangles and two corners. Then it's final assembly and basting it for hand quilting....
