Had a bad experience with a marketplace seller. I purchased an item that the description stated came in a pack of multiple pieces, that I needed for my quilting. So, I ordered some and as the common usual, they printed out a label for mailing, but my order was held onto until I contacted them days after the main site stated it was expected to be delivered. So, then they mailed out and much to my shocked surprise, instead of receiving the multiple pack as was stated in the description, I got a box of a single item.
I thought maybe I read it wrong, so I read it again. Yep, I was supposed to receive a multi package of the item. So, I contacted the main site and was told I needed to talk with the customer service rep who handles the marketplace and to stay on chat as an agent would be with me soon. Well, over an hour later of waiting for an agent that never came on, I finally just turned off the chat and messaged the seller directly.
They stated that the description was wrong. It wasn't supposed to say multi package. Said I could return my item for a refund, but I have to pay my own postage. Well after much back and forth, I said I had purchased the item because of the multi package and (nicely) in general words said they needed to honor the description of the item and send me what I ordered. They said well, we contacted the (main site) and are changing the description --- (I looked several minutes later, it the multi package writing had been removed) and that they wouldn't send me the multi package because it never should have said that to begin with and basically in not so many words said -- I should have known that. I told them it wasn't my responsibility to check with them before I placed my order. All I got back was -- send it back and we'll refund your money. (note: I had also made a copy of the page as I usually do when I order something and still had the description of the item that was there originally and let the marketplace buyer know that)
Yeah right, I won't get my original postage back, and I have to pay the postage to send it back to them. I'm ahead money wise just to keep it. What a rip off.
At the very least they could have apologized for the description being (according to them) incorrect and offered a return label and full refund, or told me to keep what I received and they would refund my money. Then, I probably wouldn't have made an issue of it. But nope... just nasty repour from them. In return, they lost my business with both the main site and that marketplace seller.
Buyer beware..... Apparently it's always the buyer who is wrong these days even when they aren't. I don't even know why they still call 'customer service' customer service any more.
At least I feel a little better getting it off my chest... but still, Buyer beware

I also had a bad experience with a seller on SEWITSFORSALE s vouple of months ago. Email said the shipping label had been made and gave me a tracking number, but weeks later the post office hadn't received it yet. Back and forth emails went. She was really snippy about me not waiting for her to get to the postoffice, although by this time it was weeks after she had been paid for the fabric. I'm alot more careful now and will only buy from sellers that have been posting for a couple of years and have a good reputation.

Maybe I have just been lucky, but I have made a lot of purchases from Sew It's For Sale and have always been very pleased with the experiences. I have found the sellers to be honest, helpful when I asked a question, and very generous when I reordered from them. On the other hand, it has been the older more established businesses that I have had the most trouble with, including my credit card being sold.
