    Default Kaleidoscope Swirls

This is my favorite design for kaleidoscope quilts. I developed the pattern after seeing one on the cover of a magazine. The in-process picture shows the colors better, so I included it. This was an experiment because I usually use fabric with medium to large items like fish or flowers, but I spotted this swirling fabric and made a few practice blocks. I've been working on this quilt in spirts at "Singer Sewing Days". Pink is not usually in my wheelhouse, but it seemed to match the swirly fabric. I think a blue background would have lost the kaleidoscopes. I used/practiced using rulers to quilt, which I loved. I used the curved half-circle ruler on the circles and then used the straight edge to stitch around the squares. I decided to use the swirls fabric for the binding, and used up the remaining fabric with one 2.5" strip to spare!

Lovely quilt and I like that you gave us some details about making it. I find it really interesting that you had squares as well as wedges (I think) in your kaleidoscopes.

I must admit that your quilt made me dizzy, Yet I'm glad that you go in for the quilts that are way out of my wheelhouse. We all need to make what makes us happy and comfortable. I applaud you!

I've been intrigued by this pattern but thought you would waste a lot of fabric doing it so never have made one. I like the fact that you made circular as well as square blocks but as you said this is your own pattern. Nicely done.
