    Default VQW—March 13-15, 2026

It’s time for another virtual quilting weekend. I am actually on retreat this weekend. So I am working on wool appliqué, hand embroidery and Christmas felt ornaments. Lots of fun! So what are you all working on?

    Next VQW is April 17-19.

I'll try to squeeze some quilting this weekend. I am working on a potato chip border for my current quilt and do need to practice some FMQ on my mini frame. I do have other things going on (as usual) so we shall see how much I can get done.

    Cheers,
    Shari

I am in a bit of a quilting low spot and I do have a variety of non-quilting things planned for this weekend.

I will put in some effort to find some things, one of my quilting books in particular. I didn't move many and the one I'm looking for is not in the box... I will be doing some paper piecing, just a few blocks (10-20 total) of various things. Need to find my baby chicks, either the printouts or that book.

Also need to put together a few more fabrics for the blocks where I do have the patterns, hope to work on them at my Tuesday sewing group, otherwise I don't have anything portable.

Somehow I inherited a large container of flannel 8 1/2" HST blocks from the guild. I've made one raggy quilt already and am working on the second. There is at least one more to make from the HSTs and lots of pieces left for a Chinese Coin Flannel top. The container came from a Guild member who is no longer able to quilt and will be donated to our Comfort Quilt program. I don't see me getting all of them done before the summer heat but am focused on getting done what I can while it's cool.

Hopefully I can get my newly adopted ginger cat out of my sewing chair to do some sewing. Or if not, maybe get a quilt cut out for whenever the chair stealer decides to move to the couch.

well, my quilt machine is down this week and may be down for another week or more so at this rate, I probably won't get my March quilt done and it was supposed to head for the quilt auction next month too so I'm really upset. Guess I'll work on my mystery quilt I designed years ago and put aside.

I can't figure out why March 13-15, 2026, is a virtual quilting weekend. What makes a weekend virtual?

I hope to complete a thankless job! I volunteered to piece leftover batting for the QOV group I quilt with a couple times a month. I expected that it would all be the same kind of batting that's available through the QOV. Apparently people have donated leftovers from what they're using at home so I'm trying to make sure that similar weight/type battings are joined.
I'm also longarming a throw sized sunflower quilt that I would like to finish quilting and attach the binding for my friend to hand stitch.
In between, I'm piecing strip blocks for a comfort quilt for church I'm 25 out of 35 blocks done.

I found a jelly roll of dark solids….no idea why I bought it or when. Goal this weekend is to use as many as possible for wheelchair quilts.
