I am working on a piece that has a 14", 8 piece, card trick appliqued in the corner triangles of my quilt top. I have never done any applique, but now that I am done with these pieces, the instructions say to turn it over and trim out the excess material from the piece. How much do I trim away. I know that this will make it easier to quilt, and I am a hand quilter, but I'm just not sure how much to trim. Pam

Trim no closer than 1/4 inch--like a seam.

Trim to a 1/4 inch edge, just like you sewed it. It will make it lie better too.
