I'm just wondering if anyone has made an Amy Butler bag from one of her patterns before? I love her bag called the Weekender and really want to make it, but haven't made a bag before or followed a pattern like this.

Any tips? I just want to make sure I am not getting in over my head before I buy the pattern.

I like Amy Butler patterns, but in my opinion, she sometimes underestimates the difficulty of her patterns. My daughter attempted one and had quite a bit of difficulty. I've been sewing for many years and as I helped my daughter, I realized that the pattern labeled "easy" was at least "intermediate"! Just my 2 cents.

I have made several of her patterns.....the Sexy hexy love quilt...the birdie sling bag...her scarf pattern...the swing bag....and a few others..I LOVE the weekender bag....but I have not tried it....it looked difficult to me only because I have never done cording before...so I wasn't sure.....but I find her patterns are easy enough ..just go step by step.....I think sometimes they go the hard way about things...also over estimates the amount of material...but I tend to try the faster easier way to do everything...so that may just be me. I would suggest you try it with scrap material first?? BUt I have loved all of her patterns so far.
