Ohio is in the same boat, I planted spinach, beets, parsley and basil in containers. I had the glass from my old storm door and put it over the top of the containers, even though they are cold weather crops I hope the glass with keep the plants warm enough so they won't die.

Our weather is weird here too. DGD wants to go camping. I'm saying not yet. It's still too cold at night.

My dh always plants my flower gardens on Mother's Day for my present. He says that's the only safe way to protect the plants.

Here in Michigan is it usually not safe to plant until after Memorial Day and then you are never sure!!
