A friend (SuanOne) and I (Suetwo) took a three day trip from southern central Iowa to Lincoln, NE., to see my daughter and family. We visited the Quilt Museum first, and the kindness of the staff was the greatest. They directed us to an excellent eatery, best pies in the state, and to three quilt stores in Lincoln: Cosmic Cow in Havelock, The Calico House in Sutter's Mall, and the Quilted Kitty on 56th street. In Sutter's Mall was a delightful yarn shop, and a Sew Perfect sewing store. Every place was blessed with wonderful, friendly people who were very helpful and made the trip an enjoyable and memoriable one we will try and repeat again. If you are going through Lincoln, NE., this summer, stay an exta day, and check out these great quilt places.

Thanks for the recommendation for Nebraska. Love testimonials on how great our quiet state is. What did you think of the Quilt Museum? That's suppose to be one of the largest in the Nation or do I have that confused with something else quilty? I haven't been there yet but hope to go sometime this Fall while hubby is watching the Huskers play.

They have 3300 quilts at the Museum; but not on display and that disappointed me. They should have photos of each quilt catalogued, & the collections arranged like libraries do of special collections by subject. And the featured Asian quilts are lovely on the second floor, but I wanted to see Nebraska pioneer quilts to the present day and learn about them. On the third floor, a few quilts, less than 10, depics Nebraska quilt history. Their board room has chairs I would love as my sewing chair. I did buy in the gift store, a book of Nebraska quilts and quilters and a Nebraska windmill pattern. Yes, I would recommend going, at least once, to see the Museum. The people who worked there were very friendly and nice.
