I'm with you, I can't imagine what I would do with such small pieces. Also, I'm afraid of buying more than 2 yards of any fabric unless I'm specifically shopping for a quilt backing. I have to admit (shocking) that I have fabric that I just take out now and then and pet. I don't think I'll ever cut it.

Sometimes the fabric calls to me. At least I will have a fq of it. I would get in tooo much trouble otherwise! :-)

The last 2 quilts I made were done with Batiks in many colors. It became a game as to how many I could buy. The next big quilt I am making I think will be made from Batiks also. Go get a FQ, it's only a few $$$ It's a cheap way to get a fabric fix.

My thoughts exactly! Also, if you go to the Connecting Threads website, or get their catalog, you can get their FQ samplers in the fabric lines they offer. Prices are very reasonable.

I only use them when they are called for in a pattern...other wise I NEVER have enough material.

I never buy just one. I end up buying at least 4, which kinda defeats the purpose. And I can't think of any projects I would do that would use only one FQ. Maybe scrappy, but I don't do scrappy so that's it. I'm with you--yardage is best. And it's rare that I only buy one yard. If I REALLY love the fabric, I've been known to buy the whole bolt!

You're asking the Fat Quarter Queen? (c'est moi) If you love half square triangles as much as I do, you won't believe how many you can get out of a FQ, if you cut wisely. Nope, I've never experienced even one nano-second of fear when confronted with a bunch of beautiful FQ! What I probably need is some of your fear!

I've been amassing quite a collection of FQ's. I only buy when they're on sale. I enjoy making the "Turning Twenty" quilt.

i love fq... for me they are like the candy bars at the grocery store check out.... no matter what i went in for... i come home with a few....

since i like scrappy quilts the best, i always use them up... my ddil has been properly trained, and if she sees one @ the lqs that i might like, she brings them home for me....
