I was so stoked today! I've been keeping an eye out for a "new" cabinet for my Singer 201-2 and when I went into the thrift store today there was an AWESOME sewing desk! Dark walnut bottom with a light oak top...the top lifts back and hangs behind the desk while the machine is out...just eyeballing it, I was so sure my machine would fit...got home and was incredibly disappointed that it's not going to!

Back to the drawing board, I guess!! :(

Thanks Sharon...I guess I shouldn't whine...it really IS an awesome sewing desk...and I only paid $20 for it...I guess I'll keep it around as "bait" for a machine that will fit into it!! :D

Sorry your machine didn't fit in the cabnet. Hang on to it. It gives you a reason to buy another machine.

Sorry it didn't work out as planned. But something good may come of it. Like a machine to fit the new cabinet!

Right now, I have my 66-1 kind of propped up in it..looks ok from a distance!

The other thing I got today, that I forgot to mention while I was whining, was at the antique mall...a baggie with 18 wooden spools of thread in it, and 5 of the 18 are full spools of SILK thread! Still in good, strong shape!! :D That helps with the sting of the cabinet not working for the machine I wanted it to work for! ;)

So what about it won't work? Can you alter the desk to fit machine?

Fabulous finds for you Charlee....you know you will find or possibly already have that perfect machine for that lovely sewing cabinet/desk. As for the silk thread good for you! I absolutely love vintage silk thread (usable of course) and have collected it for years. I even have some on those long wooden spools that they used in the manufacturing plants back in the day. They are fabulous to just oogle over.
