Square fabric will give a square box which is perfect to hold simple coasters you make to match. I have made these and some I didn't sew ribbons. I used small safety pins to hold the corners together, making line of them from the start of the corner to the end . I filled the bottom with crushed walnut shells before sewing the last sew line and made it a pincushion.

Also can use the colored elastic bands for hair to hold the corners for a hair accessory basket.
