I am in the market for a second machine that I can take to my church quilting group. What I have now is an older Singer in a cabinet and not really portable. A friend has recommended the Janome Magnolia 7330. Does anyone have any opinion or experience with that model? Especially wondering about the space between the needle and the body of the machine as far as room to push a quilt through. Thanks.

I have this machine and I really like it. It is a regular sized machine. The biggest quilt I have made on it so far was about 72 inches square. I also quilted it on the machine. The center I used the walking foot and the sides were FMQ. This is my first ever sewing machine and I would recommend it to anyone.

I have this machine and I love it. I bought it in January so I've have it almost a year and made 7 quilts on it, the biggest one was a twin XL. It has never given me any problems, but I clean out the lint every few bobbins and I change the needle often.

Where in Northern California do you live? I live in Santa Clara and bought mine at Eddies Quilting Bee. They give you a whole bunch of stuff when you buy a machine with them including free classes, free machine maintenance, and discounts on almost everything in the store for a few years.

Kryssa--thanks for all the info. I live in Union City and was planning on checking out Eddies. I have heard good things about them, though some people have not been too thrilled with Eddie himself, but still love the way they were treated both during and after the sale!

I didn't working with Eddie at all. I had the son, Drew, help me look at a few machines, and then the wife, Dawn, help me with the sale a few days later. She even sat down with me and showed me how to wind a bobbin and thread my machine.

Also it's good to know that they are open to negotiation. I paid $399 for mine but I had them include a Janome walking foot and 1/4" foot.
