Does anyone here do quilts for our wounded troops? If you are a quilt topper like me, this seems to be a great idea. They will finish your donated quilt tops.

Thank you so much for the information, both of you. Such worthy causes and everyone needs love when they are hurting.

I've done several Quilts of Valor amongst all the different soldier quilts I've made.

I sew for Operation Quiet Comfort.

You can help by collecting used 100% cotton blue jeans or cutting squares or sewing the 4 Freedoms Quilts as well as making the 3x5 mini-quilts.

I have been participating in all of the "steps" for 2.5 years.

What a great feeling to see "our quilts" covering "our boys" who are wounded. (Just wish they didn't have to be wounded before getting our quilts. )

This is a great organization! I love to piece the tops too and sometimes, if I am lucky, I actually have time to quilt them on the frame!

I was looking at a Military.com site the other day and on it they had a place where you could see the men with their quilts and let me tell you. it really effected me, seeing those men wrapped in bandages, and tubes coming out of everywhere, being wheeled into the back of a transport plane and inside they were almost all covered with a colorful quilt. And I saw almost because their obviously weren't enough to go around for all of them to have one.
I felt really bad. I hope that some of us will take up the cause and make some. Jan :(

My quilt guild is making Quilts for our wounded soldiers as a service project this year. We are all making 12 1/2" blocks and will have a workshops as often as needed to put them together. We have long arm quilters to quilt them in our guild too. The site we are using to get them to our soldiers is through the Citizen Sam yahoo group. They have pics on there showing some of the quilts that have been done. We thought it would be neat to do "sampler" style quilts then we would all be sending our thanks, love and prayers to our wonderful soldiers.
