You are so blessed to have all these heirloom quilts. I also see where you get your great quilting from. It looks like you inherited it. (can that be done?)lol. They are all gorgeous but my two favorites are the basket quilt and the necktie quilt. That is the first necktie quilt that I have liked. I'll be waiting also for the pic of the whole quilt.

I would love to have been the "keeper of the family quilts"!--I have what's left of the tatters of a quilt that was my great grandmother's. I plan to make a duplicate of the original and then hopefully my mom will leave the original to me in her will. If only my family would have planned a way to save what they made.
What a great legacy!

I love all of your quilts. What an honor bestowed on you to be the keeper. I'm wondering if the tie quilt is make of all silk ties? or is a combo?

I have this same chest, I bought it to put my Grandma quilts

I just love it and shows them off so beautifully. I will post pictures later My grandma died at age of 90 yrs and was still making quilts by hand. Just really treasure them. She has been gone now for about 30 yrs. I am sure she would be very proud that I am now so into my quilts.

I am pretty sure these are all silk ...... this was her first tie quilt... if you look closely she used ties to bind the quilt too ..... and the backing is cotton and only attached around the edges ..... works good .... she pieced the ties onto an old sheet ...... she did them all that way... it kept things stable as she embroideried ... hope that answers lots of questions ....
