My machine is sewing fine, until I put on my darning foot and try to quilt. It has always workrd fine, you have seen all the stuff I have quilted with it. It isnt catching the stitches .The needle just goes in and out and nothing there. I have chaned needles twice, cleaned it well, checked the tension,,everything is like it was last night when it was working perfectly. It was even the same thread.Any ideas????

Sometimes it is the simplest thing. Are you lowering your presser foot?

doesen't this just frost you. The other day making dresden plate pieces, I was getting bird nests at the back when I would start the piece. I stopped and cleaned and changed needle and even changed thread. It quit now, but why worry me like that, I don't have a backup.

It's always the little things that get me - the things that make you feel stupid.

Presser foot up has gotten me LOTS of times!

Is the needle bent?

Is the flat side of the needle where it's supposed to be?

Is the needle the right size for the thread? Too big or too small and the thread can't form a loop for the hook to catch.

Did all that, and like I said it was working perfect the night before when I quit and went to bed. I picked up where I left off.

Have you put a regular foot back on the machine to see if it would sew? If it will then the problem would be with the set-up of the darning foot. If it won't sew, then it is a setting or threading issue.
