No one will ever know this is not the correct pattern! Nothing like creative license to do one's own thing. There is no way I would think of taking this beauty apart and re-work it. It is beautiful!

To be honest I sat here staring at this for 5 minutes trying to figure out what you did wrong...and I've had plenty of coffee this a.m. so.....I like it and love the colors!
