cloth books you could buy for a baby and slip snapshots into so they could identify people they didn't see often. I remember buying one for my older grandchildren but haven't seen them so would like to make one. Have you ever seen anything like this as a pattern? It needs to have a slot so that pictures can be updated or added. Each picture was on a quilted fabric page. I have tried to imagine how to do it, but just can't figure it out. I told my DDIL I would make one for my DGD. Help! :-(

How about if you get one of those inexpensive photo albums at the dollar store and put it in a cover? The baby would have to have adult supervision to use it, but it is the same idea. I remember that my 3 year old GS had one like you are remembering, so they must be out there somewhere.

Here's a site telling how to make a child's cloth book. For each picture you could have an area with some stiff plastic - even a report cover? I had these for each of my grandkids and they are just 3 years old so .. not that long ago. Got one on ebay and one at Toys R Us.

I'm sure anything you could make would be cuter!

and simplicity sells a pattern for the books. you could modify the pages of a few to sew /stitch the plastic covering onto a few pages

I'm not sure where my DIL got the book for her son, but I am thinking Babies R Us. It is cloth and has slots for pictures of say, parents, grandparent, brothers or sisters etc.. Might look that up.

Can you print pics on fabric and make a book with them?

Just topstitch a piece of clear vinyle over the fabric, sew on three sides, leaving top open. Trim edge of vinyle with rick-rack. I'd use pre quilted fabric

I think if you go to about.com or how to quilt.com you can find a pattern, I have one at home if you can't find it on the internet that I can email you if you would like, I have made them for my grandchildren for the year of events that they were born.

This is what I was thinking, also. It would be pretty easy to do with the inkjet transfers. I use Avery Ink Jet T-Shirt Transfers. You can get them at Wal Mart pretty cheap. I was able to get two photos per sheet by using the 4.5 by 6.5 setting. I have a Simplicity pattern for a cloth book which is super simple to make. It includes Christmas applique patterns. The number is 2726. It would be easy to make without a pattern, too. Just cut your fabric to the size pages you want and make a backing for each page. I think I would use the pillowcase method so you can use each side of the pages. Then add the photos with the iron on transfers. Stack all of the pages in the order you want and then sew them together on the left hand side. Bind that edge and you have a book. You can make the first and last pages the cover of the book. Good luck with what ever method you decide to use. It will be a nice keepsake for the baby.
