hi from virginia!! i just found out that Lehmans cataloge is now selling new treadle sewing machines! I am new to hand piecing because of vertigo. I just cant watch the thread the pieces and my fingers without getting motionsick. I hate to turn on my machine for 5 min! does anyone know if the one in the catalog is any good? it's a Necchi omega. mine was a kenmore and before that a singer and so on. You all have been a great help to me.you have kept me going and nearly cheerfull!!!thanks to all!!!

You might consider a true vintage treadle machine. They are relatively inexpensive (usually $100-$150) compared to new machines and are very easy to maintain/repair.

Good luck...sorry to hear about your vertigo and how it's affecting your sewing.

this is my first try so please have mercy! the vertigo hit in 2007. i didnl't mind not working 40 to 80 hours a week once the disability started but i miss my sewing machine!!!! I am trying to build my tolerance to motion byt it's hard. It just kills me to throw up on a quilt top.Mine is caused by nerve damage. cuncusion followed by an ear infection. i gave my kenmore sewing machine to my sister when she needed one.She brought me a nearly worn out treadle and her equally worn kenmore. I can do more with the treadle than the electric but mostly i'm learning and doing handwork. I love hand piecing but it does take a lot longer to do! it's not so easy to not look at the dogs bed when i've spent weeks working on it!thanks for all the help to keep sewing!!

I have 2 grandchildren and they are a real joy. Keep your grandchild often because they grow up so fast, much faster than you kids or so it seems.
