Maytag Bravo 4.7 cu feet Washing Machine

Any one out there have one of these? I just wondered how you liked it. Looks like the reviews are really good.. My old washer is not draining. It was 18 yrs old when I got it 7 years ago... It is rusting out and leaking in the bottom.. Now I really think it is time for a new one.
That old one is ABSOLUTLEY No Good to wash those quilts and material in.

If it is the one where there's no large corkscrew thingy in the center and it uses only enough water to wash the clothes, walk away.
I have the Whirlpool version called the Cabrio. Paid 1,200 for it 4 or 5 years ago when they first came out and within a year the circuit board went on it and then the year after that the bearings started going on it. The cost to fix the bearings is $800 plus and I was told by the repairman it wasn't worth it to get it fixed. So I got 5 years out of a $1,200 washing machine. Whirlpool/Maytag customer service sucks big time. The repairman who fixed the circuit board told me that there was a recall on the bearings because everybody was having problems, but when I called to have it covered under warranty they said there wasn't a recall. They were rude and were like oh well, there are blogs dedicated to the problems with the bearings and these particular style machines.
Whirlpool bought Maytag and they use the same parts and their machines are the same with different names. I'd look into LG's. I'm holding out as long as I can, but the noise from the bearings is so loud and it jams up alot because it's not turning the way it's supposed too.
While writing this I went and checked a few places with reviews of this product and I would not get this washer for exactly the reasons I stated above. Plus there seems to be a smell to the laundry when done, that seems to be a common complaint. The site was buzzillions.com/reviews.

A repair man told me he would only get a top load washer. He said he repairs too many of the front loads which tells him they still have too many bugs to work out. Maybe you could talk to your repair man and ask him which seems to be the best type and brand to get.

Another thing to consider about a front loading machine is they are prone to mold on the rubber gasket around the door. My friend has one and she has that problem, don't know wny but I have read that on many reviews.

I have had my Maytag front loader for about 2 years now and really like it. I did read about the odor/mold problem ahead of time. My solution: just do not leave the door shut all the time. That will seal in the moisture, etc, that will cause problems. I have no odor problem. Also, I think my clothes are cleaner now and a container of detergent lasts much longer. So, not all frontloaders/Maytag frontloaders are bad.
