Default Visiting San Mateo, Ca..

I'm here visiting San Mateo to host a Navy reunion.. Is there a great Quilt Shop/fabric store that I shouldn't miss while I'm here?? I don't have a lot of time, but would hate to miss a great shop if there is one or more in the area. Thanks..

There are several really great shops in that area! If you head straight down Highway 101 South or El Camino Real (they run parallel) you'll find both The Laurel Leaf and Always Quilting are both within a block of El Camino Real... and worth the time--(both packed to the gills with fabric, but not tons of personality!)

If you're up for a little drive, head inland to Thimble Creek in Concord. They've been featured in Quilt Sampler several times - They're a darling, charming, wonderful shop - well worth the drive - it'll be about 30 minutes from where you are... or less. (You'll have to take the Bridge across, so be prepared to pay the toll on the return trip)

They often have samples from Bunny Hill made by Annie herself, as well as originals from other designers, too..

There is one more that's really breathtaking - it's farther inland - probably 40 minutes from where you are - It's in Livermore - In Between Stitches - Equally fabulous, darling shop - more modern, tons of exclusive patterns.... amazing samples and the neighborhood can't be beat!

Thanks Mom.. Just what I was looking for.. I have found I often use most of my 'free' time just trying to find a shop worth the drive. Now I just ask those who know the area. Just what I need.. I've copied the names and looked up the addresses... I'll be visiting sometime in these next few days.

Thank you Again.

You're very welcome! I used to be a shop owner in the area - I understand how important a good recommendation can be!

Let me know what you think of the shops you find!
