Hello from sunny Southern California
The children have left home, I closed my business and now I'm back to being a full-time homemaker and can get back to the things I love. I took the yarn out of storage and started knitting and crocheting again. I bought a sewing machine - I haven't had one for about 20 years. The quilting and embroidery supplies are coming out of storage.
My husband thought the yarn stash was overwhelming. Wait until he sees the fabric stash!
I'm on the far side of 50, married over 30 years to the same great guy. I have a daughter and 2 sons and an empty nest (and I like it that way). No grandchildren yet, and none in sight.
I've sewed all my life and before I put everything away 20 or so years ago, I started doing machine quilting. I'm getting back by starting with small pieces and then working my way up to a full quilt. I'm glad I found this board!

Hello from a fellow so cal resident. :-)
Your story sounds so much like mine I too put all my toys away about 16 years ago and just recently pulled them out to play. I have loved getting back into it and learning new techniques this board has been a great source of information and inspiration.
