quilt sizes
I want to make a full size quilt and have lost my chart for
mattress sizes. Can someone direct me or tell me what
the size is? Also what size have you made finished full
size quilts? I know a lot depends on depth of mattress
but if I can get a ballpark figure I can go from there. Thanks!

I agree with Buckeye Rose. I made a friend a Double Irish Chain for a queen size quilt but she was NOT happy with it and wanted the sides to be longer. I almost ended up making a king size quilt. Fortunately, she paid someone to quilt it for her.

True, there are no standard quilt sizes, but there are standard mattress top sizes. This link shows them: http://equilters.com/library/quilt_i...bed_sizes.html

The mattress top sizes are still very consistent but certainly NOT the depth of the mattresses! Our 'new' mattress (about 7 yrs ??) is so thick it's absurd. I have to get sheets that have 22" + deep pockets for them to fit. Then there is whole 1/2 height box spring issue as well. I really wish we had done this as both DH and I have to 'climb' into bed! And he's 6 ft tall!
Just mentioning this to take into account your drop. If your quilt is a gift for someone, you may want to check those issues.

Here's a nice chart I found on the internet somewhere, lol::
Standard North American sizes[edit]
The standard bed sizes are:[7]
Crib
27.5 in × 52 in (70 cm × 132 cm)
Camp cot (Summer camp style)
30 in × 75 in (76 cm × 191 cm)
Hospital
36 in × 78 in (91 cm × 198 cm)
May be 80" long.
Twin
39 in × 75 in (99 cm × 191 cm)
A "single" may be the same size, or may be a few inches narrower.
Full or double
54 in × 75 in (137 cm × 191 cm)
Queen
60 in × 80 in (152 cm × 203 cm)
King
76 in × 80 in (193 cm × 203 cm)
A king-sized bed may have a king-sized box spring (foundation), or, more commonly, two smaller box-springs (each the size of a Twin XL bed) under a king-sized mattress.
California king
72 in × 84 in (183 cm × 213 cm)
Other North American sizes[edit]
In addition to the sizes described above, other sizes have found some acceptance in North America, including:
Twin XL
39 in × 80 in (99 cm × 203 cm)[8]
Full XL
54 in × 80 in (137 cm × 203 cm)[8]
California Queen Waterbed Insert
Used for conventional mattresses inside a waterbed frame. Subtract 2.0 inches from California Queen waterbed size.
58 in × 82 in (147 cm × 208 cm)[9]
California King Waterbed Insert
Used for conventional mattresses inside a waterbed frame. Subtract 2.0 inches from California King waterbed size.
70 in × 82 in (178 cm × 208 cm)[9]

I have to use my exercise step to get into bed, lol....but it makes it much easier
