I think I've broken my new Juki 600. While sewing with a 1/4 inch foot I somehow change my stitch to zig-zag. Of course the needle hit the foot & broke. Now there seems to be a hitting noise comming from the bobbin area. Of course no dealer nearby & a long week-end. (big sigh). Any ideas.

Check your bobbin area! There may be a small piece of the needle in it. Or the bobbin needs to be adjusted. Get your manual out and check the troubleshooting section. Get your magnifying glass.

Well I would say you've thrown the timing off or something when it hit so hard. I have done that before but now my machine has a locked screen so it can't happen. Also comes with a straight stitch plate that won't allow any changes in stitching. If you can take the bobbin completely out and look inside to see if something got bent or there's a burr somewhere. I wouldn't use it until you can get it looked at, might make it really bad. Sorry, that happened to you.

I did this on my Bernina but it wasn't a computerized sewing machine so I just cleaned out the bobbin case. Take some time and see if you can get it running again, otherwise it is off to the Doctor.

Reassemble the needle if possible to see if a piece may have fallen into the bobbin case. Take out what you can and clean and oil the bobbin area if your machine allows it.

I dont know the machine but my first suggestion would be to remove the bobbin and clean the area. You might even want to see if you have a small magnet that might pick up a tiny broken piece of the needle that could be causing the noise. Then try a different bobbin. If bobbin has a case you might ant to try a different case too. Good Luck

Does your machine still make a stitch even though it makes a horrible noise in the bobbin area? If it does, then I agree with Tessagin, you may have a piece of the needle stuck down there. Remove the bobbin case and carefully inspect the bobbin hook area. Use good lighting and try manually turning your fly wheel and watch what the hook does. Sweep the area with a magnet if you have one.

Recently I broke a needle hitting a pin and my machine was also making a horrible noise but it was still sewing. It took taking the bobbin area apart 4 or 5 times before I finally found the tip of the needle that broke.

If you machine does not pick up the bobbin thread, I would guess you threw it out of timing. Any competent repair person can reset the timing for you, but if the machine is still under warranty you may have to take it to a dealer in order to not void the warranty. I did the same thing (hit the foot by changing the stitch without changing the foot) when my bernina was new and it took a trip to the dealer. You can bet I didn't make that mistake again.

Thank you for the encouragement to go in there. I did a light cleaning this morning, guess I just moved the lint around cause I sure got a big blob just now. It has improved about 80%. It still makes a little clunk going over seams. It never did before. It sews just fine. May give it another cleaning, just need to talk myself into taking out those screws in the stitch plate. Putting them back is a real challange for these poor hands of mine. I always think they'll be better tomorrow. LOl.

If possible you can also try turning the machine upside down and gently wiggling. That is after all you've done already. It works sometimes.
