Default My First Hand Pieced Hexagon

My very first hand pieced hexagon.(It's 1.25" sides.) I have made dozen machine pieced quilts but never hand quilted anything. I'm going out of town and wanted to try it. I love hand sewing. It is so relaxing. My patterns may be too big for tiny hexes, but I'm learning.

Any advice on choosing colors for the Grandma's Flower Quilt? Looks like these will not work well in a white background and I already cut hundreds. Unless I make sure the pink lands on the edges.

I may just make a tote bag in light green and appliqué a few rows.

You might consider making the center hexie the same in all of the flowers if your making a gfg. I always like those quilts the best.

I do like your flower though. I like the pinks.

Does the background have to be white? I'm doing one right now with a green background. Another way to go about it would be to add another ring around each flower in a certain color or family. Then your white background would be just fine.

I planned on this darker pink with dots to be center. Is that what you mean?
Thanks.

I'm making a wall hanging now. The centers vary but the 1st round is all the same color(6) of them Then the next round of 12 is all the same. 3rd round of 18 are all the same color. These are done in 30th fabric. I will applique them to a background piece when done. Mine are 1" hex. Vi

I always like a pop of yellow for the center. But I do like your pinks too! I just purchased a Hexagon paper punch from JoAnn's to start on one myself. Have fun with your project.

Your hexies are pretty. Don't you just love making them. I am hooked. They are my take along project. Right now I am working on a pincushion from the moda site. Lot's of fun. Be sure to show us what you make.

Are you EPP or just sewing together with 1/4" seam allowance?
