Default Hancocks of Paducah/Hancock Fabric??

I was running out of white fabric and decided it was time to order more. I tried putting in my password on Hancock Fabric several times and it wouldn't work. Kept checking my emails but received nothing from Hancock Fabric. Duh...I don't think Hancock Fabric and Hancocks of Paducah are the same!! Now, my second 'duh moment'. Is all Kona white the same, or is Robt. Kaufman Kona white different? I'm having one rough day.

The Hancock's are not the same and Kaufman Kona is superior to some other less expensive brands.

Yup, Hancock Fabrics and Hancocks of Paducah are two different companies.

Kaufman Kona comes in several different shades of white. I have some of the "white" and it is a modern, very white white. Kaufman Kona Snow is a slightly off-white that is a softer color, more muted.

When I buy Kona, I always make sure it is Kaufman Kona. Kaufman is the manufacturer. There is another manufacturer by the name of Kona Bay, which can be confusing. That's why I always make sure the manufacturer is Kaufman.

Kona has three shades of white the last time I checked their chart: white, bleached white and snow, so be sure which one you want. And as prism said, Kaufman Kona and Kona Bay are entirely different companies as is the chain Hancocks is different from Hancocks of Paducah.

I love the " Snow" I use it a lot for the back ground fabric for my hand embroidery.

Just plain Hancock is a chain store like JAF. Hancock of Paducah is a family own quilt store with the Dad and his two sons running the business. I have talk to Jason Hancock a few times and he has bailed me out of a difficult situation of running short on a fabric for a quilt. It is his southern voice you heard on their answering machine. I buy my Robert Kaufman Kona cotton from them especially when their fabric are on sale 20% off. If you like what you see, sign up to receive their emails when they are having a sale.

They are unrelated comapnies, true, and always have been, however the original founders were not unrelated.

Hancock's of Paducah, originally known as Hancock Fabric Center, was started by William Hancock in 1952 in Batesville, MS.
Hancock Fabrics, Inc., originally called Hancock Textiles, was started three years later by L.D. Hancock, William's brother.

More on the history of Hancock's of Paducah.
