Default Question on Sta-Flo Starch

I have a spray bottle of Sta-Flo mixed with water 1:1. I won't be using the bottle all at once. Will that mixture stay fresh or will it sour or mold? Have no experience using it. Thanks for advice.

I used it and ran out. I only did a little at a time. Like you 1:1. I need to get some more but I have this big acan of spray. You can buy smaller spray cans like at some beauty supplies or dollar store. I just give the bottle a good shake any time I mix it. That way no waste. I have no idea if it sours or molds. I just made sure when I was done to rinse the spray bottle so it wouldn't clog.

I've never had it mold or sour. Smells like always and works the same. Just remember to shake it well, before you mix it and after.

I does not sour or mold in the original bottle. Why, I have always wondered, do we worry about that after we dilute it?

Sta-Flo has preservatives in it, so that helps keep it from getting moldy. When I mixed up plain cornstarch and water, that would get moldy quickly if left out and kept in the refrigerator lasted no more than a week. However, you're probably okay much longer with Sta-Flo because of the preservatives.

I did have it grow mold once in the diluted form but it was in the bottle a long time. I try to only mix up a small bit at a time that will use up in a few weeks.

It probably depends on how much you dilute it that it "waters down" the preservative in it.
