I know summer is when many of us are on "the road" whatever our travel vehicle may be, and of course checking out quilt/fabric shops is often part of the itinerary. My sister and I include this as a part of our time together each summer. I thought it would be interesting to share our experiences, we never know when we might have the opportunity to benefit from one another's great discoveries!
Together we discovered a great shop & satellite store in Rockledge, FL- The Quilt Place. Great shop, very large selection, at least 3 long arm machines, they specialize in great panel choices of all types, quilting fabric for all tastes, a bargain room, precuts, kits, large selection of patterns, books, notions and fabulous customer service! There is a small sister store close by where current fabric is $7.99 or less.
Fabric designer and national teacher Judy Hansen has a wonderful shop in DeLand, FL (home of Stetson University & Law School). The Quilt Shop of DeLand is sponsoring a great quilt show at the Stetson Mansion through 7/30 a must see if you are in the area. Her staff is awesome, and they do demos on a great variety of techniques and tools on the spot any time there is a question or request. Wonderful fabric selection and ideas everywhere you look in the store!- and historic DeLand has lots of interesting shops, eateries, etc- as well as all the places of interest in surrounding areas. Several other shops that sounded interesting- we agree we'll have to go back! So where have you been lately worth sharing?

My sister and I did a great Shop Hop in June called the East TN Shop Hop. It was a lot of fun as my sister started quilting last October and moved to the area, but had only visited 3 of the 12 shops. We got the barn quilt blocks.

I also went to the Stenson Mansion, De Land, and Judy Hanson's quilt shop on July 18th. My daughter went this time. Not a quilter yet!

There is a local shop hop going on this weekend, but unfortunately, I won't be going as we have a grandchild's birthday celebration. However, I did just return from my annual trip west where I had fun at two quilt shops in Montana. My very favorite is Quilting In The Country in Bozeman, and the other is Main Street Quilts in downtown Bozeman. Both places have wonderful customer service.
