Default Brain Freeze Moment

I planned on making my daughter a new table cloth for her table which is 69" x 37". I was merrily cutting strips to make hourglass units. I cut the first 2 strips at 5 5/8" which is correct for a 4" finished unit. The instructions say you really only need 5 1/4" but she always adds 3/8" so that's what I did to make 2 at a time hourglass units. The next two strips I cut at 4 5/8". Dah!!! I need 60 hourglass blocks & now I have only 28. I had only enough of that particular orange to cut the strips one time. What to do??? She will now be getting 6 placemats & a table runner for the centre of the table. Thank goodness I didn't make the same mistake when cutting the fabric for the other sections. This is the block I'm making in oranges & white because her favourite colour is orange.

Sorry that has happened to you, but at least you won't be throwing it out. I've done the wrong cutting, and just shake my head as how did I do that. I like your block!!

Great save, and the placemats and runner are a very versatile option!

How can you call something so pretty a mistake? It will be loved. Take a deep breathe and carry on. It really is beautiful.

I really like your block and I am glad you have a happy ending from this. (I sure can't figure out why your post was moved from Main....it is a picture, but you weren't really doing a Show and Tell or anything...oh well.)

Great save. I'm sure your daughter will love it just the same.
