Default european river cruise

has any of you been on one of these cruises? did you like it? was it like the adds are showing? are the towns very crowed? My husband keeps talking about going on one of them but I am not so sure.

We have friends who have been on one of the river cruises in Europe and they loved it. I would love to do this but my husband is so not interested.

We have several friends that have done these river cruises. They all had rave reviews. They are not cheap! I just have no desire to do that, and neither does DH. There is too must to be explored here. We love the outdoors, and our travels are based on seeing all the beauty and splendor that's out there.

If my husband suggested such an idea, I would be packed and ready with bells on. Even if the cruise was lousy, just to be with him, doing something he wanted to do, with me! Think happy thoughts, and have the time of your life!

I have been on a river cruise in Europe. The boat had 148 passengers. I prefer it to the over 2,000 passengers ships. Went on a river barge on the Texas Inter-coastal. It was great. In June 2001 my Aunt and I took the QE2 from New York to Southampton, England. We enjoyed the trip very much. That vacation was 28 days.

My mother and aunt have been on two and loved them. They have also been on an Alaskan cruise. they much prefer the smaller River boats. The ships are not crowded, the staff were lovely. Mum did get tired of yet another excursion to a church, so she and auntie did their own thing some of the days.

She would love to go again.

Crowds will depend on time of year, how many boats are berthing at a time etc. I spent last May in Florence. At the beginning of May it was not too busy, by the end it was incredibly crowded with big tour groups.

I am spending most of this May in France, but at some point in the next 8 years I want to take a river cruise in Europe. I would go in May if possible.

Planning to go next spring. DH likes the idea of not switching our suitcases and hotel every day or so. We like to walk, so walking from port interests us, too. The smaller group sounds great.

I haven't been. My brother and sister-in-law have been on several. They love them .The smaller size boat is really nice. Note: My sister in law is really picky about things and really likes them.

I took my granddaughter on a riverboat cruise in Russia and loved it. There were 110 folks on the boat, we were the only Americans!. Loved meeting people and not moving from place to place, very relaxing, plan to take one in France later this year.

Family members went on one and really enjoyed it. The one thing they were surprised at was the amount of walking ot get to some venues. For some reason they thought it was more "sit and see". Otherwise, lovely.
