Default Further progress on Tree of Life.

I am on month three of working on this art quilt. It started Life as a table runner which measures 16 1/2 inches wide x 36 1/2 long. The fabric is under licensed by Andover Fabrics and is based on a quilt by Kathy Hall exhibited at Museum of New Mexico, Museum of International Folk Art. I quilted the runner myself using black thread in close wavy lines, which gives it motion. I couldn't bear to think of food on this beautiful desig, which just called to me. I decided to make my own art quilt. I have been hand embellishing it and have learned a lot, especially which beads work best. I have sewn literally thousands of beads and still am not done. I really enjoy doing the angels and the center of the flowers. The photos fail to capture the shimmer and sparkle of the beads. I used my embroidery machine to stitch 3D Monarch butterflies, using heavy duty stabilizer, another thing I learned to do.
