Default Need Kenmore foot control

I have a Kenmore 158-17030 sewing machine and I need a new foot control. The part number for the foot control is 6814YDK. Do any of you knowledge people know where I can find one at a reasonable price? I've looked online but I only found one and it hadn't been tested and the seller had a no return policy. I don't want to buy it and not be able to return it if it doesn't work. TIA

I looked on Brewer Sewing Supply, and their part number for your foot control is "FC-6605 Foot Control Kenmore 158 with 723 Cord." It's $33.90 retail, but you have to have a sewing machine business order it for you.

It's also available from Sewing Parts Online at this link: https://www.sewingpartsonline.com/se...e+foot+control It's $34.99 right now.

Unfortunately, https://www.sewingpartsonline.com/fo...e-fc-6605.aspx is out of stock. https://www.amazon.com/Machine-Contr...crafts&sr=1-44 is in stock but looks like it has a rheostat controller, rather than electronic. If the cord is ok, maybe just the foot controller could be switched out with something like https://www.amazon.com/Generic-Sewin.../dp/B008MM5WG0 but one needs to make certain that it has the connector, which should come with it in a smaller plastic. How to open it to wire the cord can be found at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fk8iSs_9uZo While that video doesn't actually show how to connect the cord, at least he shows how to open and also shows the connecting piece. The place where he says he got the controller he shows (Sew-Classic) is no longer in business.

Thanks, Annette but I don't think this is the right controller. My controller is 110/120V. The one they list is 110/130V. My machine isn't listed as one of the ones that uses that controller. They have another one that looks like it might work but I can't tell from the picture if the plug is the same. I emailed them asking about the plug.

Thanks Janie & John. I don't think the controller on Amazon would work. I've seen it on several sites but it doesn't list being compatible with my machine. Sewing Machine Parts has another one listed that may work but I can't tell from the picture if the plug is the same. I've emailed them asking about the plug. Unfortunately, that plug is also out of stock but if it will work maybe they will notify me when it comes in. I can still use my foot control but it tends to not stop at times and I have to tap it with my foot to get it to shut off.

My Viking shop guy is also my preferred repair/vintage guy because he loves the old stuff and has a big back room full of replacement parts both new and used. The Bernina shop not quite as much on the loving the old stuff, nor the back room, but it too has all sorts of things in stock.

Both were closed, the Viking shop applied for and got an exemption a couple of weeks ago. The Bernina shop opened up again with our easing of restrictions.

I'd just call a couple of your local dealers and see what they have and what they wish to charge. It may indeed be more than you want to pay. For my vintage Remington that needed a new foot pedal I would ordinarily shop thrift stores until I found a similar vintage machine for $20-40 and replace the pedal, but thrift stores are still closed here. Goodwill has started taking a limited number of donations... So yes, it was more and I paid for a cleaning/servicing while it was in the shop (think it was $125 total, I'm expecting my machine at the Bernina shop to be closer to $300 but they won't even be looking at it for a couple of weeks still), but it was still worth it to me to pay more for that than I would just to pick up a new to me machine. I'm rather fond of it after all.

I called one of the shops here Saturday but they were closed. I left a message so hopefully they will call back Monday. I need to take my machine in to the serviced too. Apparently this particular Kenmore model is hard to find the foot control for. I thought of checking with thrift shops but they are just beginning to open here. I'll start checking them as they open. It's not like I can't use the machine. The foot control still works but doesn't always stop and I have to tap it with my foot to get it to stop. I also have a Brother electronic I can use. But the Kenmore will sew through anything. The Brother not so much.
