As a teen mom I worked at a cannery packing Calamari for the Sea Wave brand in a small coastal harbor town of Moss Landing, California.

I know that brand, as well as Moss Landing. Pretty place!

The squid came out good. It was a PITA to stuff the smaller squid bodies though.

Moss Landing is my old stomping grounds. I grew up in nearby Castroville from the age of 6 to 17, when I got married and moved away. My Dad told me I could be a welfare Mom all my life or make something of myself. So I worked as a waitress, then as a squid packer...lol Until I started my own business at 17.

Working in the cannery was good pay for a teen back in 1979. But I smelled like a dead fish by time I got home every night. Dad would make me come in the back door, Use his bathroom, take my work clothes off, put them outside the door and he would put them in the washer, hang up my heavy work jacket outside to dry and air out. I wasn't allowed in the house until all that was done....I stunk really bad..........LOL
