Have any of you ever done a block of the month that you get on the internet?
I had the bright idea of getting my bee more involved in quilting and less involved in a gossip session by doing a block of the month from the internet. The BOM came from WWW.QuiltCentral.com called Sentimental Journey.
We have all different skill levels in our group and I thought it might help with the teaching of the newbies. OK, so it started out pretty good. We were given the fabric requirements and also a sheet that we could print out and color in with our colors if different than the ones shown in the sample.
Then we started making blocks. About half way through they didn't post the blocks on time. Sometimes it was a month or more late. Finally they have all blocks up to print off. Nov 21 was to be the last posting for the borders. They are still not posted. I really don"t need them but for the newbies it is a real problem. One girl in particular is so frustrated that I doubt if she will ever participate again.
I love doing BOM quilts on the internet. Actually I have 3 that I am doing for 2010. Two are from FatCatdesigns.com
I am doing a Christmas mystery from WWW.EricHomemade.com right now. It is still available but I don't know for how much longer. So far it is up to step 12 but the steps are very simple. You could get caught up in a very short time.
Anyone find any new ones to start in 2011?

Why not try one that's already DONE and just do it according to your schedule.

Quiltinghere has a very good idea. Also, just to keep the newbies going in your guild can you work up a border sheet that they could work from to finish up their BOM that is missing that part?

Happy Holidays!

BlockCentral.com has Sentimental Journey, designed by Kim Noblin.
