Wow! I guess they're expensive! Are you looking at the gold one ($330) or the silver one ($88 )? I don't hand quilt any longer, but even the stainless ($48 ) and plastic ones ($16) are up there in price from what I've seen. Do they work with regular hand quilting or just her folding (non-rocking) method? Hope you find an answer to your question, but it seems like you could find something just as good for less and spend the savings on fabric. 8)

In one shop about 1/2 hr. from me I tried on the silver and the plastic -- liked silver better.
I've only made one quilt (maybe I'll talk my daughter into teaching me how to post a photo of it here) and I'm very proud of it. I had quilted it with regular thimbles.
Maybe I should just buy this one but I wanted feedback from this board.
Thanks.

I forgot to mention in last post: I don't use a frame, it just gets in my way. I liked just having it in my lap. I did buy her special needles, tho.
I know she's been at the Houston Show but I've never been. I'd like to go, tho. I saw her on Alex Anderson's show. She's no longer on my tv, I think.

Wouldn't the silver tarnish and possibly stain your quilt? Seems like any coating on the silver to stop the tarnishing would flake off eventually from the eye end of the needle cracking through it.

I know the question is rather old, but to answer your question I have the sterling silver thimble. I think I have every thimble on the market and this one by far is THE BEST. Well worth the money. The only one that stays on and is very comfortable. sandy
