Hi everyone, I am brand new to the forum. I really like this tablerunner tut, even I, as challenged as I am, can make it! Wondering tho, if you wanted to add batting, did you just slip that in the tube after sewing together? Thanks again for the tutorial. I made some placemats to match by cutting the tube in half.

I don,t mean to be a dummy, but how do you get the batting into the tube? I know I must be missing a very important and very evident step but...I have all the material cut and am just waiting for the light to go on so that I can get the batting in... Thanks

I just made this with batting. When you're putting it together - before you sew - lay the backing right side up on a table. Put the top right side down on the backing - lining up the ends and one side. Cut the batting the size of the top. Place the batting on the top (I spray basted mine.) Pin the long side together. Then pin the other long side AFTER you have lined it up. Sew the two long sides to make a tube, then turn inside out. I had to trim the batting on the short sides before I folded them down and sewed them.

Make sense?

Here's my first table runner and I know it won't be the last. Thanks so much for the tute!

For the first time I felt like I was using a "Stash". I picked up several $1 Fat Quarters at the Houston Quilt Show - that's what I pieced the center with. The backing/border is material from Wal-mart that I'd picked up just because I thought I could use it sometime.

I just knew it was for a gift - undetermined person. Turns out the undetermined owner is ... me! I'm having piano students come over for a Piano Party tomorrow and Wednesday. We'll practice performing, eat some cookies, then go to a local nursing home and play for the residents as they wait for dinner. That runner looks great on MY table! (It's on the piano bench for the picture - not gonna sit on my lovely creation!)

I would say exactly what Pat said, very pretty tablerunner and thank you for sharing your music at the care center. Have any of you seen this You Tube video? Here is a link, enjoy.
