Yes, I finally made something! I am now the very proud owner of one of these sewing boxes and it has turned out well. Thank you so much for your instructions. My sister was given one of these as a gift together with the instructions but she kept saying she would find them for me and didn't get round to it, so now with your instructions I have managed to make one! [ATTACH=CONFIG]353855[/ATTACH]I have now completed my fabric covered sewing box using these instructions and am delighted with it! I will convert the measurements to make a smaller box and a larger one - it seems to work out that the hexagon sides on the top and bottom, and therefore, the sides, measures the same as the radius of the circle. That is, if you want a 10" box, then the hexagon and sides would measure 5", on a 6" box, the hexagon adn sides woudl measure 3". The height of the sides can be whatever you want. I hope I am correct in my maths but this box lends itself to many other uses - jewellry, makeup, mini layette for a new baby and so on. Thank you so much for this, and good luck to anyone who has a go - I have very little sewing experience and this box is mainly sticking with Pritt stick and PVA glue with very little sewing. As you can see, I did not make the little pockets - not enough material! I also padded both sides of the lid and the edges so it gave it a more luxurious feel.

I had the kit and, like BlueChicken, could not make any sense of the instructions.
Am grateful that a good friend could and made it up for me.

Many years ago I made a similar box for my mom. It was called Victorian sewing box. I used a glue gun and remember burning my fingers since I did not use clothes pins. I put a fabric covered button in the middle of the lid and tied vintage lookin tassel on it. Since my box was square I added brass corners to it. My mom still uses it today. Yor box is very beautiful. Great work. Thank you for posting the tutorial. I think I will make a few of your boxes for Christmas presents.

I just remember something. I think, I am not sure, that lady who thought me added extra batting on the bottom of the inner box and used it as a pin cushion. I am so going to get my stuff out and make one today. THANK YOU for getting my creative juices going. You rock!
