That is sooooo pretty. I think I like the rectangles and squares the best. I might have to try one!

Darn! I just gave away a big sweatshirt that I thought I would never use because it was so big. Maybe I'll look at Goodwill and buy it back :)

Thanks.
This does turn out a fairly heavy and very warm jacket. Page through the messages for several pictures.
Has anyone tried making one uisng a cotton botton under the patches --for a more quilted look?
I used a regular, simple jacket pattern and cut out cotton lining and quilted onto it. Then I sewed the pieces together just like you would when making a jacket out of pre-quilted fabric. It is still quite heavy and warm. Definitely a winter jacket in CA! I will try to attach a picture.

I made two of these in a class, and used fabric glue to hold a few scraps in place and then sewed them down before I glued more down. I did glue/sew onto the wrong side of the shirt so that the inside of my jacket was smooth, not fuzzy. Collar stayed on until jacket was complete, then cut off and binding sewn around the whole jacket. Fabric cuffs were sewn on so they could be folded up.

How nice..I have a sweatshirt waiting for me to make a jacket. Maybe I can get it done before the holidays! Thankyou, so much for the tute and all the diffrent ideas to make an origional jacket for everyone. I hope all post the pictures. I wanted to make a fractured bargello..but have never made a bargello of any kind so I was afraid to try it without a pattern. It looks easy enough...so maybe..i can wing it! If so I will post a picture : )
