Default Paper Pieced Interlocked Squares

Okay....another picture heavy tutorial....


Start with pattern on graph paper. Draw diagonal lines as indicated and then cut...you will end up with 4 sections.

Next cut outer section off of each as shown in picture. Number sections as indicated in picture.....this is order of stitching fabrics onto paper foundation.

You will need to cut 4 of each. I have them listed by color, #, and then size of fabric.

Follow basic paper piecing instructions to complete each section. Be careful of fabric placement to ensure fit. Remember to shorten yous stitch. This helps with removal of paper when ready.

Next, trim everything with a 1/4" seam allowance....

Then you need to sew the outer section to the inner section. You can use pins to align everything, but I find it easy to just fold each inhalf to find center. Align and sew.
