Thanxs for that tip. That is the one thing that I seem to have a real problem with. I too have tried the painter's tape but the fabric seems to "stick" to it in spots and that really messes things up!

I use the Dr. Scholl's moleskin padding that you can cut to whatever size you like. It sticks onto the machine beautifully and doesn't move until you pull it off. I use it when I teach quilting to kids ages 10 to 14 whom I find have a much harder time keeping their seams consistent. Then I just pull it off when they go to do zig zag stitches to hold down their appliques. It's cheap (about $2.99 a package)and works beautifully as it creates a nice ridge for them to butt their fabric up against!!

I've been quilting for a couple of years now and STILL have problems with sewing an accurate 1/4 in. seam. I can't wait to try this method. Thanks.

funny you posted this, I did this yesterday with post it notes...it is a quick and very cheap way to get your 1/4" seams...
