How about alternating the variable star block with another block that we have learned to make. The 9 Patch. I quite like the effect of this one. The green triangles on the star block create a secondary Sisters choice pattern when placed next to the 9 Patch
Also included below is the Pdf file of instructions for piecing the Variable Star Variable stwr with a 9 Patch as the alternate block Instructions for Variable Star in PDF |

You can create all sorts of different looks with these stars just by varying the pieces you use in the corner and center units. Below are just a few ideas.
A: Ohio Star with a set of half square triangles made for the center B:Ohio Star and 4 Patches, creates a checkerboard effect C: Ohio Star Variation D:Variable Star with plain background E: Variable Star with single square at corners F: Variable Star with four patches Examples of Star blocks |
Well that's it for now, I think that's enough don't you  I'ts a bit more than usual but I thought it would be a good idea to cover the quarter square triangles as well as they are made with such a similar method.
Next month, a change of pace, English Paper Piecing and a much smaller file  Untill then Hope you all have a great month :D |
