Hi Mari
Here is the pattern and the dimensions of the Bow Tie: attach 4 inch square to the 4 inch cut out to one side of the 6 1/2 in print square. Attach 4 inch square to other cut out space of print. Press seams away from square. Attach white 6 1/2 inch to printed Bow Tie on each side, matching corners. Press all seams toward white pieces. Thanks for sharing.

Okay, I finally figured out the pattern,(sometimes it takes me awhile) but what do you do when you finish the block???

I found a tutorial for a 3D bow tie block. It is at http://bearcreekquilter.wordpress.com The directions were easy to follow. {good pictures} You use 5 squares that are the same size and use only 3 seams. There is a search box on the page to put the name of the block in. I am making some with purple fabric. They are cute, sorry but my camera quit working.

thanks for the ideas, keep them coming, this is what this site is all about! Jan

Could not find the 3d bow tie block instructions. Had a bunch of triangles on background fabric and quilted on.

Are you using a method like in the link above, except different colors in squares that are across from each other and different measurements so the center tie is proportionally smaller? |
