becca1231 12-09-2011 03:13 PM

I like this. Sure makes it easier than all those triangles. Thanks for the instructions.

sassey 12-09-2011 03:26 PM

Thank You for the great tut It is so easy to understand I have been wanting to make card trick but thought it was too hard I have just the fabric to use for it too

AngieS 12-13-2011 06:51 AM

Thanks. This is the one block in my block of the month that I dreaded when I had to do it. I made 2 of them to put in my quilt and just don't care for the traditional directions. :)

lfstamper 12-13-2011 06:03 PM

Very nice instructions!

sewmary 12-14-2011 08:53 AM

Just came across this - how clever and how much easier. Thanks

QuiltedCritterLady 12-14-2011 10:23 AM

Great instructions - thank you Jan! They are simple enough for a beginner like me to follow. I will add this to my list.

kayluvs2quilt 12-14-2011 11:07 AM

Give each page time to load on your computer, you will see the pictures then.

plmsmith 12-26-2011 05:34 AM

This thread has just reinforced my feelings that this group of quilters is the greatest. Thank you so much to everyone who worked so hard to make this wonderful tutorial available to all of us who wanted it!!!!!
You are the best!!!!

grammy of 6 02-14-2012 07:31 AM

Pojo, just look through this thread, you will find the tut transposed into pdf so that everyone can download. I think it is either on page 2 or 3.

Quilter7x 02-14-2012 09:07 AM

How many people have made the Card Tricks block using this method? It's one of the easiest ways to do this block.

icon17 02-14-2012 09:21 AM

Jan Thank you! I've downloaded this one :)

0tis 02-14-2012 09:30 AM

I can't get it to open correctly - it opened in Adobe Acrobat - then tells me it is incorrectly coded - what am I doing wrong?

almostfree 02-14-2012 09:39 AM

I think the Card Trick block is so neat looking, and this method looks so much less intimidating than other methods I have seen. Thanks for taking the time to make this tutorial.

lfstamper 02-14-2012 09:43 AM

Mine came in fine. Great tutorial. I printed to have in my sewing room as I am going through scraps and hope to get some cut for this.

SharonLynn 02-14-2012 10:14 AM

Thanks for this tutorial, so nice of you to take the time to do this.

annies-best 02-14-2012 10:17 AM

Thank you I have been looking at this block you made it look much easier than i thought it would be
thanks for posting

hobo2000 02-14-2012 10:23 AM

I really needed this during the holidays when I made 49 for a raffle quilt. This really makes it EZ.

jcrow 02-14-2012 02:24 PM

It downloaded fine for me. It came up on Word. Thank you soooo much for spending so much of your time to show us how easy this block can be. I am going to make a quilt using this method. I printed out all your great instructions so I'm ready to go as soon as I choose my fabrics. Are you a quilting teacher by any chance? You did such a terrific job explaining this method that it made me think you must teach quilting.

sweetwaterquilter 02-16-2012 12:23 PM

Thanks so much for this quick and easy pattern. I've been wanting to do this block for quite a while and you have made it easy. No triangles!!!!! I have been doing so many projects lately with almost all triangles, I'm sick of them. I always end up over cutting and then trimming them down to the proper size. This is wonderful. Any time there is an easier way to do something I'm all for it. Thanks!

blessed_beon 02-19-2012 10:59 PM

Thanks so much that was sweet of you to share.

BETTY62 02-19-2012 11:15 PM

Where can I find a picture of the actual block or quilt? I think I could make it following your instructions but I'm one of those friends "okiepastor" was making reference to because I really need a visual. LOL Thanks Okiepastor for thinking of us.

BETTY62 02-19-2012 11:30 PM

Laurlync, thank you for converting Jan's instructions to a pdf file. i really appeciate your doing so.

ladyshuffler 02-19-2012 11:45 PM

Thank you for sharing!!

LynnM 02-20-2012 08:23 PM

Wow, thanks so much Jan. This is amaizing! I always loved the card trick pattern and once did a few blocks, but the triangles were so time consuming that I never did do enough of them to create a top. Did you post a pick of your quilt? If you did I missed it in the tread. Again...thanks!

katastrofy1967 02-21-2012 06:50 PM

Hi Jan so nice to see you and glad to see the tute. I am going to try my hand at it and see how it comes out, one never knows till they try right? :-). Good to see you!

It loaded & came up perfectly for me... woo hoo! More on the to-do list! I've always wanted to make one of these in Xmas fabrics... Xmas Cards...

Fabric Galore 01-12-2017 08:52 PM

Thank you so much for the wonderful instructions with diagrams. The only thing missing was the size of the end triangles and the 4 corner blocks. How large should I cut them? This is a hundred times easier than the pattern I had with half-square and quarter square triangles. I knew the board would come through for me.

Battle Axe 01-13-2017 03:32 AM

Thanks, Jan. I've printed it out and put it in my "Quilt Fun" notebook.

On another project: I'm trying to make a Checkered Dresden from MSQC. I bought the template and watched the video about 5 times. I reached into the stash and picked out a Jelly Roll from Northcott named Opal. I started sewing 4 strips together and my seams are great. But when I measured the 4 piece strip sets, I had anywhere from 7 1/2 inches to 8 inches. I need 8 1/2. So it was then that I heard the voice of my mentor in my head. "All precuts are not cut correctly". Somehow the: measure before you start....was not in my head. I got the roll about 2 years ago from ???? The whole project is just sitting there. Now what? The strips actually measure 2 3/8ths.

I suppose I could rip out all the seams and sew them so that I get 8 1/2. What do you think? Marcia
