That is very pretty!!

Dover Publications out of Long Island has lots of books of celtic designs, as well as books about quilting and other crafts. Their prices are quite reasonable, also.

No, I do not want to part with the book, but maybe you could find a copy, or contact the company, if still in existance. Price in 1980 was $7.95.

Thank you so much! I will check into finding the book! It's always good to know of a tried and true book!

Beautiful block and a nice tute. Thank you.

I wanted to suggest using Glue Baste It. (School glue would probably work, too with a small applicator tip.) I took a class recently and we used the glue baste, making small dots and finger pressing the strip down. It works beautifully and you have no pins to distort the bias. We used tweezers to pull the bias strip under where needed, after leaving an inch or a little more space unglued to create space to pull it under.

I really love the colors of your block as well!

jojosnana 02-13-2011 05:24 PM

Very nice tute. Thanks. the block is so pretty.

Maybe someone could answer this for you... I am not familiar with a double needle. I too would be interested in that concept.

ann31039 02-13-2011 06:50 PM

beautiful bias. wish i'd had this when i started making my wall hanging. as it was, i learned a lesson with the 1/4" bias maker, don't cut 1/2 strips like it calls for, cut 5/8". made a huge difference and don't use continuious strips. the 1/4" tip is too small for the bulk. the shorter strips are so much easier to control and really the overlaps are easy to hide.

rivka 02-13-2011 07:18 PM

This is so stunning looking. Still looks really difficult, though!

Good to know! I will be doing a celtic weave design on a wedding quilt border. You've helped me avoid a headache.

I am happy you will give it a go! Just remember take your time and that it is a bit time consuming. But I do enjoy having a block to work on while watching TV. I have not tried sewing in the car yet.. who knows!

Lilrain 02-14-2011 11:28 PM

I love that heart pattern. Would you mind if I borrowed it for a project I'm working on? I would just use it from the pix you posted.
