Easy way to mark quilt for tying

This is the quickest way I've found to "mark" a quilt for tying. I purchased 1 yard of 1" squares of gingham. Place a mark in the middle of all the squares where I want a tie, mine are 3" apart. Next cut the center of each marked square, I used pinking shears. Lay the gingham on top of the quilt sandwich and pin it in the corners and the middle with some long pins. The gingham has stayed in place and I don't have to worry about erasing any marks.

Very interesting. Quilters can always come up with new ways to accomplish great things.

Very clever. I just cut out a square of felt. So say I want my ties 4" apart, I cut a 4" square of felt. The felt stays put on the quilt. I lay it down, put a tie next to each corner of the felt square. Then I move my square, lining up two corners with two previous ties.

You can also use that thin interfacing that is marked in one inch squares for pattern making.

That's a great idea. I must remember it as I like tied quilts. They remind me of home.
