Facing a quilted piece.

pretend this small sample is a quilted piece you want to put a fancy edge on. Prepare the facing/frame the same size as your piece.[ATTACH=CONFIG]575301[/ATTACH]

picture 3- you will notice I did gentle curves not deep V's because like in applique V's will be tougher to turn out.[ATTACH=CONFIG]575303[/ATTACH]

Here's an example of "impossible to bind? Do facing!" After trying all methods of binding, I'm so glad I asked the board and got the suggestion to face it! Tartan your method is really nice!
