Hmm great tutorial. But got a stupid question... What is a mug rug? is it to put a mug on? Go and laugh at me. Also is there away I can see the back side? I don't know much about quilting trying to read everything I can on it. I just finish a 9 patch lap quilt. took me 4 weeks to do that.

Yes a mug rug is a place to put your mug on your desk or workspace. The back can be seen in the original thread here:
http://www.quiltingboard.com/picture...163582-11.html i did the back on this one a bit differently but it is basically the same.

great mug rug and tutorial.. one question : you mention " these are 9 degree .but any will work ".
is 9 degree a template ?...if so ,can I make one ? as we dont get quilting rulers etc where i live in India.
incase i can order online, would you suggest what.. and where i can get it ?
i thank you in adv for any suggestions and guidance.

I followed the explaination of how to make this just fine. I have never hear the 9 degree term before. i am guessing that I would just need a pattern. But I do love this. It turned out gorgeous. I think it would be a great way to practice a new quilting pattern.

Yes a 9 degree ruler is in the stores, but you can use any wedge pattern. It will make a difference on how many pieces are in the fan. In a 9 degree full circle there are (I believe) 20 wedges. I might be wrong on that though. i grabbed what I had handy.

Yes, I would love to do this, but was also wondering how you did the backing!
