I have seen that one before...I love all the different tutorials that are on youtube. Missouri quilt company has lots of them. I found one for the 10 minute quilt block by Suzanne McNeill. It was so quick and easy. I made a twin size quilt in about 4 hours!! I gave it to my SS at church. Here's a photo of it.

Thanks for sharing. Linda B. I do like Missouri Quilt tutorials. |
That is it !! you used the same tuturial ! I like that you used the sashing in the accent square. ! I don't think people see the work in this.. the squares match so very well and the accent looks like a patch. I think if I do this again. I will use contrasting squares to show the work.
Thanks for posting !! |

Thank you.

I had seen this OSFG quite a while ago & plan to do a quilt with it, but hadn't thought of the possibilities. I love the new application to squares, & with the folded concept...you can make your square in a square any size, even floating. Great!!!

Question on the one-seam flying geese. When they are sewn together....where is the 1/4" seam allowance on the tip of the triangle? Does that mean I sew the tip into the next block? Confusing.

Neat idea! Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for the link!

This is great, I must live in a cocoon because I have never seen it before. Can hardly wait to try this . Thanks so much for sharing.

I have used this method and the flying geese come out perfect every time. The judges in a quilt show I entered remarked on how it gave the quilt another dimension since the edges of the flying geese block are not sewn down.
|
Love this new method!

You might look at the Suzanne McNeill-youtube video as well. It is somewhat related. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sgAZ3_xdkGw. You should be able to vary the height of the folded piece to make the center square on point larger or smaller if desired for a different look.
On the Ricky Timms video (The Quilt Show), he made his squares 3" & then his rectangle 5.5" (so center piece folded in half would be 2-3/4" ) leaving the 1/4" seam allowance at the tip. If you wanted to make your geese floating, you could cut your rectangle @ 5" (folding would leave 2-1/2" ). For beginners or those who just want to make faster time, your points will still be there, just not intersecting the base of the next triangle. |
